MANAGEMENT TEAM
Ellen has more than 25 years of diverse, international experience in the financial services sector. Hired by Mike Bloomberg in 1984 as one of the original salespeople of the Bloomberg Analytics toolkit to Wall Street, she became a founding member of the team responsible for the explosive growth of the Bloomberg brand globally when she moved to Tokyo in 1987 to establish the company’s Asian presence. During her time in Asia, Ellen was responsible for developing and managing Bloomberg’s business in a rapidly expanding and increasingly diverse market.
With Bloomberg’s market dominance in the Asian market cemented Ellen returned to New York to focus on the then-embryonic derivatives trading and risk management sector. Working with David Bruce and Co. (subsequently First Options of Chicago) Ellen was responsible for managing the teams selling into and supporting some of the leading players on Wall Street.
In 1992 Ellen joined London-based Lombard Risk Systems as head of their U.S. operations. With a growing market presence in the U.S. for the flagship ‘Oberon’ derivatives and risk management system, she went on to build a sales and support operation which expanded and consolidated Lombard’s position as the leading supplier of risk systems to the US capital markets.
Ellen went on to join Silicon Valley-based startup Infinity Financial Technology. Once again she was successful in growing the firm’s presence on Wall Street, selling cutting edge financial toolkits and applications to support derivatives trading, operations and risk management for both buy and sell-side firms, resulting in a successful IPO in late 1996. Following Infinity’s subsequent acquisition by SunGard, Ellen continued to manage major accounts before deciding to apply her knowledge of technology and financial services to create The O’Dwyer Group in 1999.
Maggie joined The O’Dwyer Group six years ago after more than 16 years of sales and account management experience within financial printing, which gave her broad exposure to the sectors, institutions and products within the financial services industry.
At Superior Glacier, she managed three litigation support account executives in their pursuit of Fortune 500 law firms, a $2 million annual market, and served as liaison between existing/prospective clients and production/sales staff with regard to project expectations and timelines. Prior to that, Maggie was a VP at Doremus Financial Printing, where she managed and grew client relationships with issuers of equity, fixed income, derivatives and structured products, private equity firms, corporate law firms and investment banks. Products included SEC filings, proxy statements, quarterly and annual reports, and newswire services.
Earlier, she was a VP and one of the original employees of Global Financial Press, where she spent 11 years and was instrumental in company’s growth to $30 million in annual revenue and 280 employees (Subsequently acquired by St. Ives Financial). While there, she expanded the account base annually in the securitization, mutual fund and corporate finance sectors.
Diane is a highly decorated U.S. Air Force veteran having served in England, Japan, Italy, Germany, the National Security Agency (NSA) and was active in Desert Storm in the Intelligence Division. Later, she served in the Air Force Reserves and then the Air National Guard as an Explosives Handling expert. Prior to joining the O’Dwyer Group 14 years ago, she had a diverse career in sales and operations.
Her first private sector position was as manager of the telecom department of GFI Group, providing operational support to a group of government bond brokers. She then transitioned to the role of bond broker for Titus and Donnelly, a division of Garban and Garvin Guy Butler, now ICAP.
Subsequently, she helped establish the newly formed risk management division of Reuters America for six years; other software sales positions included InterNAP Network services, Mantas and Traiana.
“The O’Dwyer Group has been supporting my staffing requirements at all levels for many years, in both the US and UK. Because Ellen and her team concentrate primarily in financial technology, they understand our specific business requirements. Unlike most recruiters that tend to present many candidates for a role, hoping one of them eventually “sticks”, I can depend on The O’Dwyer Group to identify only qualified candidates whose skill sets are aligned with our requirements.”
